The finals you take before summer are different from the finals before you take winter break due to the fact that:
1) You feel like you JUST did this how is it possible it's happening again???
2) You (hopefully) made awesome plans for the summer and just want them to be over with.
3) You have a major cause of senioritis (you don't have to be a senior) and just cannot bring yourself to care anymore.
We get it. We know how hard studying can be, so we complied a list of tips that you can use to study! Some of these tips are from our previous study tips post, but be sure to check it out too!
1) Study before you sleep.
According to research, you are more likely to remember the stuff you looked at right before you go to sleep. There is also research out there that says that if you sleep after you learn information, you will hold it longer.
2) Don't focus on one subject.
Instead of sitting down and looking at one subject for hours, switch up the subjects you are studying. You are more likely to stay engaged if you switch subjects.
3) Make a study plan.
As finals get closer and closer, the amount of material you need to look over can feel overwhelming. Sit down and decide how much time you should devote to each subject and when you will be studying. This allows you to stay on track and not loose sleep the night before your exam.
4) Visualize.
Using visual aids can be a great way to memorize material. They also help you make connections between concepts so you can more easily answer that essay portion on your exam.
5) Study the same information in different places.
Research shows that you are more likely to remember information if you review it on different places. Study one night at the coffee shop and the next day at the library. This will also help you stay alert and focused!
6) Set your alarm.
We feel like this should go without saying but we are saying it anyways, waking up 10 minutes before your exam starts is probably a bad idea. Make sure you are at your classroom early so you aren't stressed right before the test. This also gives you time to review your flash cards!
We hope these tips are helpful! Good luck!
